This 10dence Platform unique and for sure alternative open call for an exhibition project to showcase 100 unique and same sized mixed media works of art within this curated exhibition. An open call for the realization of an international art exhibition based on the concept of ‘Accidental mixed media Interactions’ in its widest possible exploration thinkable. The ‘Accidental mixed media Interactions 2027’ exhibition will take place at the Sint Amanduskapel (Campo Santo) in the city of Ghent, Belgium in 2027. The ‘Accidental mixed media Interactions’ exhibition project is a collaborative initiative from 10dence Platform and will host the works of 100 artists created on the uniform size of 50x50 cm preferable on paper 300 gr. This curated 10dence platform ‘Accidental mixed media Interactions’ exhibition will feature an international selected group of 100 professional artists and the curatorial team of the exhibition will consider a wide range of proposals for inclusion. To take part in the selection procedures, we accept submissions containing your proposals plus a portfolio containing approximately 8-10 images of recent works together with relevant technical information, an up-to-date CV and an artist statement relating to the exhibition concept, contact information and a link to the artists’ website. Submitting artists can forward these materials and further relevant information to email: info@10dencegallery.com - clearly stating the title of the open call within the subject line. Deadline of submissions to open call: February 15, 2027. To maintain that status, please note that a (very) small participation fee will be applicable after selection. Our motivation to develop this exhibition project partially found its conceptual origin within the history of visual art. In visual art, mixed media describes artwork in which more than one medium or material has been employed. The use of mixed media began and has become widespread as artists developed increasingly open attitudes to the media of art. Essentially art can be made of anything or any combination of things. The first modern artwork to be considered mixed media dates from around 1912 with the cubist collages and constructions of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Pablo Picasso's 1912 collage Still Life with Chair Caning, which used paper, cloth, paint and rope to create a pseudo-3D effect. The influence of movements like Cubism and Dada contributed to the mixed media's growth in popularity throughout the 20th century with artists like Henri Matisse, Joseph Cornell, Jean Dubuffet, and Ellsworth Kelly adopting it.
