A presentation of the 10dence platform - Radical Pacifism exhibition at Galerij Artisjok
The 10dence platform developed the Radical Pacifism exhibition project to generate the opportunity for the international art world to reflect on the use of violence in any form for any purpose. As a conscientious objector, who refuses to fight in any war for moral reasons, the exhibition project stimulates the participating artists to reflect on the principal of war with their works and to promote dialogue to establish permanent and universal peace. History lessons learned us that important thinkers like the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, the former political and spiritual leader of India, Mahatma Gandhi and the Baptist minister, Martin Luther King, amongst many others, contributed to pacifist ideology and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom worldwide with their efforts to promote the ideal of peaceable arbitration in the affairs of nations and the creation of an international institution to achieve that.
10dence platform organizes international curated exhibition projects, presenting a contemporary vision on how an international group of artists experience and reflect on the concepts developed. The artists reflect on the ‘Radical Pacifism’ exhibition concept from their specific personal viewpoints. An exhibition project that will be on display at Foundation KunstWerkt - Art Centre Schiedam - Lange Nieuwstraat 191 - 3111 AJ - Schiedam - the Netherlands from November 5 till November 29, 2026, at Pulchri Studio - Weissenbruch venue space - Lange Voorhout 15 - 2514 EA - The Hague - the Netherlands from December 19, 2026, till January 17, 2027 and from January 23, 2027 till February 28, 2027 at gallerij Artisjok - Lier – Belgium. More than twenty professional artists from all over the world have been selected to participate within the curated ‘Radical Pacifism’ exhibition and all of them will show a selection of works based on their personal confrontation with the concept.

A presentation of works from the USA based artist David Jenowe at Galerij Artisjok
David Jenowe has been a painter for the last thirty years and he received a bachelor in fine arts from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. The last twenty years he lived in Omaha, Nebraska and he recently started exploring a combination of oil painting with collage, including very old drawings from his childhood, which have been a useful tool for injecting a bit of a whimsical relief from his otherwise typically haunting work. His work is best described as abstract expressionism. He is drawn to the surreal, phantasmagoric, and often ghostly effects that he pulls from a richly textured background, always exploring the contrasts as they arise, whether it’s the contrasts of color, subject matter, positive/negative spaces, or texture. He enjoys creating spaces that are not easily understood, but are aesthetically pleasing, always pushing himself to try new color palettes, subject matter, and techniques of application.
The Fifty Fifty international collaborative exhibition project revisited at Galerij Artisjok
Fifty-Fifty - 50 artists - 50 collaborative challenges
Over the years, large scores of artists introduced their work into the visual and emotional sensitive world of the Dutch artist and founder of the 10dence platform, and he developed a longlist of admiration for the work of lots of real-time as well as social media acquainted artists within his direct surroundings and network. To challenge himself and these artists into an actual collaborative endeavor, had been something topping his personal bucket-list for a long time. After many years of breeding on this issue, he decided to organize the ‘Fifty-Fifty’ collaborative art project with the participation of a very select and hand-picked group of 50 artists. The idea behind this initiative was to collaborate with this international group of artists and to generate one duo work with every single one of them. These works went on display all these works together within an exhibition at Pulchri Studio in the Hague in the Netherlands last year and we decided to display this unique project at Gallerij Artisjok as well.

A presentation of works from the Dutch based artist Frans de Winter at Galerij Artisjok
'By replacing the original application of matter or an object with a new one, you can say things with images for which there are no words.' Frans de Winter is an autonomous visual artist. He is currently making three-dimensional human images. Often life-size, so that a passer-by or spectator identifies with the image, as it were. He has absolutely no inclination to create a beautiful image by means of a traditional technique. He makes shapes with materials that come his way and inspire him and that often have their application in contemporary industry, which places the images in the here and now. In any case, he is constantly pleased with every moment when an image has found its place. His project is his career, and he hopes to be able to look back on a beautiful oeuvre in his old age.
A presentation of works from the Dutch based artist Joël Bonk at Galerij Artisjok
Joël Bonk is a Dutch artist who grew up in Zwolle. After studying and working in graphic design, he continued his artistic study at the Artez Academy. At the start of his study, Joël made a permanent shift to Fine art. In the middle of his education, he left his hometown to continue and finish his studies at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Nowadays he lives and works in Gorinchem, where he’s making sculptures and paintings combined with printing techniques. The use of lines, threads, wires and chords are key to his work, with it he tends to display the underlying fibers and structures of human anatomy. In this way, he is trying to create a dialog between humans and their inner world. With the use of bright colors and a lot of beautiful dark like the universe that surrounds everything, Joël makes the analogy of our inner universe. Throughout his career he mainly focused on the philosophy of the body in the form of anatomical studies, using his own body and appearance in the process. Appreciating the thoughts and ideas of Maurice Merleau-Ponty on ‘Embodiment’ and the ‘Mind-body dualism’ of Helmuth Plessner, Joël still finds it relevant today to ask the question; what is a human? Or better, what is it like to be human?

Larisa Sjoerds is an artist, museum guide and visual arts teacher. As a visual artist her favorite medium currently is ink combined with all sorts of obvious media such as pencil, felt-tip pen, fine liners, ballpoint, acrylic paint, and crayon, but also less obvious media such as silverleaf, salt and other substances which influence the consistency of ink. Larisa’s drawings visualize abstracted human figures in a surreal world. Her drawings are literally inspired by shapes and patterns of cells in the human body and other fauna and flora, but they are never just a copy of those existing shapes and patterns.
“Our emotions and instincts can be very disturbing and intriguing at the same time. They influence and can even possess our lives. Somewhere deep down in our body a variety of processes is taking place. Such as the beating of a heart, an ovulation, impulsive thoughts to do with fear, sexual or violent actions. These mostly hidden processes, thoughts, emotions, and instincts are what I want to or would like to visualize. The creative development of this visualization is partly rational and partly as organic and intuitive as the (dis)functioning of our brain and our body. The body of work ‘Circle of Life’ (2024) is a series of 10 works, it describes, illustrates, the contradictions in life on how to be/stay/become smart, young, strong, beautiful, healthy. While we are escape-artists; by drinking alcohol, eating junk food, watching ‘the socials’, doing jobs we don’t like, staying in square boxes, surrounded by chemicals in our water and plastic particles in our bodies. We are walking contradictions in a world full of contradictions. Contradiction is at the heart of being human. Which contradictions are controlling your life and how can you use them to your advantage?
Mediation as a profession - As a freelance museum guide and educational developer Larisa Sjoerds is using a variety of interactive mediating techniques for several art museums in The Netherlands. The objective is to encourage step-by-step dialogues while observing art individually or with a group and to become aware of our frames of reference. The use of language, drawing, poetry, performance, and sound are part of the toolkit to exercise and expand visual literacy and the art of observation. This type of art mediation is part of ongoing research by Larisa Sjoerds and is also on offer regularly as training for teachers and museum guides. In her most recent educational projects for museums for secondary school students, facts and fiction around the terms value and appreciation are discussed in relation to art and visual culture in general. She also recently designed a hands-on drawing guide for (young) adult visitors of an art museum to be used self-guided or during a drawing tour.

The main objective of this project is to present a series of artworks that bridge the gap between the scientific and the artificial. Through the artistic exploration of the human body and mind in relation to the magical world of AI. Tanya can transcend traditional boundaries between science and art. This way she is hoping to inspire a sense of wonder, introspection and connection with both us and the world around us. For most of the work she used a set of written instructions, for a machine. Artificial intelligence, and this way made the sketch. It is a robot view on reality combined with old school oil painting.
“Some works of conceptual art may be constructed by anyone simply by following a set of written instructions. All the planning and decisions are made beforehand, and the execution is a perfunctory affair: The idea becomes a machine that makes the art.”
Tanya Janssen studied at the Academy voor Beeldende Kunsten St. Joost in Breda and the Academie voor Beeldende kunsten in Maastricht.
